The Southern California Vocal Association is offering one $1,000 scholarship to a graduating 12th grade music student who shows exceptional promise and achievement in the field of music and will be majoring in music education or vocal performance in college.

POLICIES & APPLICATION INFORMATION
A. The sponsoring choral director must be a member of SCVA in order to recommend an applicant. Members may nominate only one student.
B. The scholarship will be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and fulfill the requirements listed below.
C Students should apply that demonstrate leadership, reliability, commitment to their ensembles and at least two years of experience within a vocal ensemble.
D. The scholarship funds will be awarded according to financial need and to the winner after they verify to SCVA official enrollment as a music education or vocal performance major at an accredited collegiate music program. The funds, given directly to the student, are designated for tuition, books, music or music materials.
E. The applicant must complete an application and write an essay of 300 words or less describing why they want to be a music major and submit the Google Form by May 1, 2021. The student application link can be found here
F. The student's nominating high school music teacher must fill out the confidential information form and submit the google form by May 1, 2021. The SCVA music teacher recommendation can be found here
G. Awarding of the scholarship will be at the discretion of the scholarship review panel (comprised of SCVA community and board members) and their decision will be announced by May 15, 2021.
